Sammy Gyamfi Politics: National Communications Officer Of NDC

Sammy Gyamfi’s political career began during his first year at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s Unity Hall (KNUST).

According to Sammy, his interest in politics grew as he spent more time debating national issues with members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) tertiary group known as Tertiary Education and Students Confederacy (TESCON).
He emphasized, however, that he switched to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) tertiary group on campus known as Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) after encountering discrimination and intolerance from members of the NPP’s TESCON.

Sammy Gyamfi won the hearts of many members of the TEIN-NDC KNUST branch after his switch due to his outspoken nature and in-depth knowledge of political and social issues.

From 2011 to 2012, he rose to the top and became the President of NDC’s TEIN on KNUST campus.

From 2012 to 2016, Sammy Gyamfi was appointed by the then Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Mr. Kojo Bonsu, as the spokesperson and public relations officer for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.

He also became the Communications Director for Ibrahim Mahama’s Exton Cubic Mining Group.

In November, 2018, Sammy Gyamfi contested and won massively the National Communication Officer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), beating his contender Fred Agbenyo by 4,000 votes.

He currently serves as the Convenor of the Coalition for Social Justice (CSJ).
